A Conversation Between a Mother and Her Son

December 4th, 2011

"You should be proud of me--"
"I am proud of you, Ryan."
"No, you should be proud of me for this: I needed to pee, but I had my shoes on, and I thought, 'I'd better not walk into the bathroom with my shoes on, it'll get all dirty! I'll just pee into the toilet from across the threshold.' This thought entered my head, and it seemed really logical to me, but I exercised my judgment, and I said, 'No. It would be better for me to just go in there and pee. My mom would be happier.' So I did!"
"You're right, you had good judgment in that split-second decision there."
"See, that's why you should be proud. OK, well, I'm headed out, I'll see you later tonight!"
"Farewell, my idiot son!"
"Wait, no, you're proud, remember?"
"Yes, I'm very proud of my idiot son!"
